EnerNOC Helps San Francisco's Moscone Center Achieve LEED(R) Gold
EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART(TM) Commissioning Drives Energy Savings at Iconic
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 14, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EnerNOC, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENOC),
a leading provider of energy management applications and services, announced
today at Greenbuild International Conference and Expo that is has helped the
Moscone Center achieve the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED Gold
certification. With this achievement, the Moscone Center has become the first
convention center on the west coast to attain the green building honor and
also has become San Francisco's largest municipally-owned green building.
EnerNOC was honored to serve as the Commissioning Authority for this important
project and deliver energy savings recommendations that contributed to the
LEED Gold rating.
"EnerNOC takes great pride in congratulating the Moscone Center staff and the
entire design/build team for their industry-leading achievement in reaching
LEED Gold," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC. "LEED certification
provides tangible value to property owners – the operational efficiencies
achieved translate to reduced energy and maintenance costs, and often lead to
happier, more productive occupants. We are pleased to see the Moscone Center
being recognized for its forward-thinking investments in energy efficiency."
Commissioning is a quality assurance process of establishing, verifying and
documenting that the performance of new buildings and their subsystems achieve
the owner's operational requirements. This process starts in the design phase
and continues into initial occupancy. EnerNOC was engaged by the San Francisco
Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) in early 2011 and has worked closely with
all vendors to ensure a successful and sustainable result. EnerNOC not only
commissioned the new building systems installed as part of the $56 million
Tenant Improvements project but also identified areas for improvement in the
building's existing systems. "Identifying and repairing non-functioning
components of the mechanical and lighting systems in conjunction with the CIP
upgrades will ensure that Moscone Center achieves significantly improved
operational efficiency and reduced operating costs," said Masoud Vafaei,
SFPUC's Program Manager.
Through these and other improvements resulting from EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART
Commissioning work, Moscone Center was able to garner a number of additional
LEED points, surpassing the 75 points required for LEED Gold certification.
The Moscone Center also reached high performance in sustainable site
development, water savings, materials selection, and indoor air quality.
EnerNOC's world-class team of commissioning experts has successfully delivered
energy services to over 200,000,000 square feet of conditioned space and
generated over 500,000,000 kWh in annual savings to customers. For more
