L'Oreal USA Announces Call for Applications for 2013 Fellowships For Women In Science

Fellowship Grants Help Women Researchers Make the "What Ifs" Possible

NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 11/13/12 -- L'Oreal USA announced the start of the application period for its 2013 L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women In Science program. Now entering its tenth year, this national program annually recognizes, rewards, and provides support to five postdoctoral women researchers in the U.S. who are pursuing careers in the life and physical/material sciences, as well as mathematics, engineering and computer science. As part of L'Oreal's commitment to further help women scientists achieve their goals, L'Oreal USA awards each recipient up to $60,000 to apply toward their postdoctoral research.

To date, the L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women In Science program has awarded over $2 million in Fellowships to 45 women scientists across the U.S. Each year, the program attracts talented applicants from diverse scientific fields, representing some of the nation's leading academic institutions and laboratories. The award selection includes a two-stage review process: a first round review by an interdisciplinary panel of scientists and engineers; followed by a review and deliberation by a distinguished jury of eminent scientists and engineers who select the L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women In Science recipients.

In addition to an award ceremony, the five beneficiaries of the 2013 L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women In Science program will be invited to participate in professional development workshops and networking opportunities. In 2013, these workshops, which are facilitated by the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), will encompass job search techniques, interviewing skills, budget development for grant requests, and strategies for peer-reviewed publications.

The L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women In Science program is open to women postdoctoral researchers only. For candidates interested in applying, eligibility requirements and more information can be found at the L'Oreal USA Fellowships For Women In Science website at: http://www.lorealusa.com/forwomeninscience. Applications must be submitted no later than December 20, 2012.
