Implenia builds the new Galgenbucktunnel near Neuhausen

Implenia builds the new Galgenbucktunnel near Neuhausen - CHF 78 million
contract for boring, cladding and fitting out | Additional momentum to
Implenia's tunnel construction business

Dietlikon, 6 November 2012 - Traffic on the
Klettgauerstrasse/Schaffhauserstrasse feeder road in Neuhausen am Rheinfall
has increased enormously since the opening of the A4 bypass. More than 25,000
vehicles are now using the road every day. The Galgenbucktunnel, 1138 metres
long, is designed to ensure the Schaffhausen Süd link functions smoothly for
the long term and to take through-traffic away from Neuhausen am Rheinfall.
Implenia, as part of the Implenia-Walo Bertschinger consortium, is responsible
for carrying out the work. The project, worth around CHF 78 million, includes
boring, cladding and fitting out the tunnel, and also covers the associated
construction work at the Engi portal. In addition, the contract includes
reverse boring for the exploratory shafts from the Bahntal portal, and
construction of the cut-and-cover tunnel, the supporting walls and the
ventilation and electronics centre around Engi. Work also began here in July
2012 on the preliminary cut for the Galgenbucktunnel. The work will take
around five and a half years to complete. Winning this project has given
additional momentum to Implenia's tunnel construction business. The project
will help ensure that capacity freed up by completion of the NEAT tunnel
construction jobs can still be utilized in Switzerland. More information:
