Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network Deploys Entropic's Latest c.LINK
Ethernet-over-Coax Solution to Increase Speed and Quality of Broadband Service

First to Deploy Entropic's Next-Generation c.LINK 1.1 Broadband Access
Technology, Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network Advances Its 2-Way Digital

HANGZHOU, China, Oct. 28, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- (International Coverage and
Transmission Conference (ICTC) — Entropic Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENTR),
a world leader in semiconductor solutions for the connected home, today
announced the deployment of its latest c.LINK® Broadband Ethernet-over-Coax
(EoC) Access technology by Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network Co., Ltd. By
deploying Entropic's technology within its network, the leading Chinese
operator gains higher network performance, a lower bill of materials (BOM)
cost and a seamless upgrade path for a 2-way digital transformation through
compatible and interoperable technology.

Announced less than six-months ago, c.LINK 1.1 – Entropic's new generation of
EoC products, offers a solid foundation for China's Next Generation
Broadcasting (NGB) cable TV transformation. The technology enables the
delivery of advanced IP-based broadband and interactive services, such as
IPTV, IP VoD (video on demand), VoIP (voice over IP), and Internet access over
the same coaxial network that is shared with the operator's cable TV service.

"Our ultimate working goal and corporate responsibility is to satisfy the
general public providing them more enjoyable audio and video experiences and
enhanced Internet services. Therefore we look to deploy the latest IP-based
broadband access technologies that can deliver the highest quality, speed and
performance for our advanced entertainment and communications services," said
Mr. Yang Hongjie, chairman and general manager, Tianjin Broadcast and TV
Network Co., Ltd. "Entropic's deep experience in RF systems and cable access
network technology ensures we can provide bi-directional communication over a
single coaxial network, which is the key for Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network
to deliver value-added services."

"Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network required RF expertise and solutions that
could satisfy China's NGB bandwidth requirements. Building on our long-term
partnership, we were able to provide a cost-effective solution that reliably
delivered scalable "last kilometer" connectivity to bring IP-based services
over the existing coaxial network," said Tom Luan, vice president and general
manager, China Operations, Entropic Communications. "Adding to the excitement
of this revolutionary deployment, Tianjin Broadcast and TV Network can now
deliver enhanced subscriber experiences with faster broadband access – up to
175Mbps aggregate application throughput – with added network robustness and a
lower bill of materials cost achieved through less components and design

Entropic's c.LINK 1.1 is based on the EN3511 Network Controller (NC) and the
EN3530 Client Premise Equipment (CPE). Key technical features include:

  oReliability – based on the field proven MoCA® (Multimedia over Coax) 1.1
    chipset technology, for which Entropic has already shipped more than
    50-million MoCA 1.0/1.1 chipsets;
  oLower Total Systems Cost – achieved through its highly integrated 65nm
    single-chip SoC and optimized BOM costs;
  oIncreased Performance – providing more than 270 Mbps of raw data bandwidth
    and more than 175 Mbps of application throughput;
  oBackward Compatibility – to the currently deployed system (EN3011/EN3230)
    in the field offering a seamless upgrade path; and
  oSupport for Quality of Service (QoS) Performance Attributes – with high
    immunity to electrical interference and stringent low latency
    time-division-multiplexing protocol (TDM).
