Superior Propane's "Pinky One" Raises Nearly $11,000 For Breast Cancer Research as Part of 2012 Trucking For a Cure Convoy WOODSTOCK, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 10/25/12 -- Editors Note: There is a photo associated with this Press Release. Superior Propane's "Pink Truck" program in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation added another $10,933 to its total contributions this past weekend. "Pinky One" - one of five pink Superior Propane delivery trucks across Canada, and one of two such trucks the company operates in Ontario - participated in the annual Trucking for a Cure Convoy from Dorchester to Woodstock. Pinky One's contribution to the cause was large enough to earn her the right to lead the convoy of 53 trucks at this year's event. James Pinder, Superior's Fleet Manager for Ontario, was a driving force behind the company's Trucking for a Cure participation this year and is overwhelmed by the response from Superior Propane's staff and suppliers. "I set our original fundraising goal at $3,550.00, but I ended up increasing it four times because we kept exceeding it," he explained. "What's really tremendous is how such a wide range of our staff and suppliers have participated. As of today, we've raised $10,933.00 but will accept donations until the end of October. Twenty-five hundred of that came as a corporate contribution from Superior Propane, but the rest of it was individuals and suppliers." Introduced in 2009, "Pinky One" was the first vehicle of its kind in the Canadian propane industry. Since then, she has travelled some 175,000 kilometers and pumped over 11 million liters - raising more than $33,000 for breast cancer research and patient programming to date. Superior Propane's commitment to improving lives and the communities in which its customers and employees reside resulted in expansion of the Pink Truck fleet. Today, Superior operates two Pink Trucks in Ontario, one in British Columbia, one in Alberta and one in Atlantic Canada. Across Canada last year, Superior's Pink Trucks delivered nearly 18 million litres of propane. In addition to raising awareness and funds at events like Trucking for a Cure, the company contributes one-third of a cent for each litre of propane delivered by their Pink Truck program. In 2011, as a result of Pink Truc k deliveries Superior Propane contributed nearly $54,000 to support the breast cancer research and patient programming provided by the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. About Superior Propane Superior Propane is Canada's only national provider of portable fuels, equipment, and service delivered locally to customers in more communities than any other propane company.
