Press Release 24 October 2012
("Acta" or "the Company")
Heliocentris orders multiple units of Acta's HG100 electrolyser
Acta S.p.A. (AIM: ACTA), the clean energy products company, is pleased to
announce that it has received a blanket order for multiple units of its HG100
hydrogen generator from Heliocentris Energy SolutionsAG ("Heliocentris").
The expected total value of the order once concluded is approximately €150,000
depending on the product mix and Acta expects to complete delivery of the
units during the first half of 2013. Delivery against the order is subject to
call-down of the units by Heliocentris based on market demand generated
through Heliocentris' global distribution network for the educational market.
The HG100 is based on Acta's EL100 hydrogen generator which is easy and safe
to use and is therefore ideal for Heliocentris' product range for educational
institutions and laboratories. Acta has incorporated a number of modifications
to the electrolyser to meet the specific requirements of Heliocentris' target
market, including the development of a dryer module for high purity hydrogen
production. The hydrogen generator, named HG100 and branded as a Heliocentris
product, is being launched today at the Worlddidac exhibition in Basel and
will be on display at Heliocentris' stand in hall 5.0 at booth No. D50 from
24th - 26th October 2012.
The Worlddidac is a Global Trade Fair for Educational Resources which is
recognised as an essential meeting point for the sector and 30% of the world's
wholesale trade in education resources.
Heliocentris has an exclusive global license to sell Acta's products to the
educational market and in return has committed to buying alkaline solid
membrane electrolyser products exclusively from Acta.
Paolo Bert, Chief Executive of Acta commented: "Acta is delighted with the
continued interest from Heliocentris in our electrolyser products. This is
further endorsement and recognition of our technology. It cements our already
strong partnership and demonstrates the increasing demand in the market for
low cost electrolyser technology which produces clean and dry hydrogen."
Ayad Abul-Ella, Chief Executive of Heliocentris commented:"Acta's HG100
hydrogen generator is ideal for integration into our educational products and
applied research products. We are pleased to add the hydrogen generator to our
growing range and look forward to showing the advantages of the technology to
our educational market customers at Worlddidac Basel 2012."

About Acta S.p.A.
Acta S.p.A. is a developer and manufacturer of a range of clean energy
products. Its product line includes market-leading compact hydrogen
generators (electrolysers) which produce pure, dry and compressed hydrogen in
a way that is easy-to-use and completely safe, and the Company is committed to
integrating its award-winning electrolysers with renewable energy sources.
Acta's cost-competitive electrolysers are based on its proprietary,
inexpensive environmental catalyst and hydrogen conversion technologies.
These products help overcome the barriers to the adoption of fuel cells, most
notably the lack of a local hydrogen infrastructure.
Acta's low-cost hydrogen generators represent a unique breakthrough in
electrolyser technology. They can operate using mains power or intermittent
renewable energy, and produce clean, dry hydrogen already at pressure for use
in fuel cell and other applications. This unique combination of features
avoids the system complexity and energy cost of further cleaning, drying and
compression of the hydrogen, resulting in a simple, compact, low-cost and
highly efficient system that is ideally suited for energy conversion and
storage applications. In such applications, which include battery replacement
and renewable energy storage, low cost and high efficiency are critical to
commercial viability, while hydrogen compression is essential for the energy
density of the system. No other water electrolyser currently on the market
offers this combination of benefits.
Acta is focusing on delivering its products to markets with high volume demand
for high-value environmental solutions (transport, back-up power, energy and
leisure). It is accelerating the commercialisation of its products via
partnerships with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, and
agents in these sectors, and intends to drive down production costs at high
volume via contract manufacturing.
Acta S.p.A. is based near Pisa, Italy, and was admitted to trading on AIM in
Heliocentris specialises in autonomous energy supply and energy efficiency
solutions with the aim of replacing diesel generators with "zero-emission"
products. The company, which was founded in Berlin in 1995, develops and
markets systems and turnkey solutions for customers in industry and science
and has three business areas: Energy Efficiency, Clean Energy and Didactic.
With a subsidiary in Vancouver, offices in Dubai and Singapore and customers
in more than 60 countries, Heliocentris is well positioned internationally.
The "Energy Efficiency" area specialises in energy efficiency, monitoring and
management solutions for autonomous energy supply solutions. With the existing
solutions, diesel consumption in applications such as mobile phone network
base stations can be reduced by up to 50%, while the cost of operating such
facilities can be reduced by up to 70%. The solutions are being commercially
rolled out in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
The "Clean Energy" area focuses on "zero-emission" solutions for autonomous
energy supply, including solutions for supplying electricity to off-grid
applications such as monitoring stations, telecommunications facilities or
self-sufficient houses. Heliocentris has already successfully demonstrated its
expertise in this area in numerous projects with renowned partners across the
The "Didactic" area offers a range of learning and research systems for fuel
cell and solar hydrogen technology and other regenerative energy technology.
