Dufferin Aggregates Acton Quarry Employees Volunteer to plant trees with the
Bruce Trail Conservancy!
ACTON, ON, Oct. 22, 2012 /CNW/ - On October 5(th), 40 employees of the
Dufferin Aggregates Acton Quarry made their personal contributions to the
environment and community by planting 500 native-species trees at two
locations on the Bruce Trail, near the town of Acton, Ontario. Organized by
Dufferin Aggregates in partnership with the TorontoBruce Trail Club, trees
were planted on the Bruce Trail's Springle property and around the Club's
parking lot. The event is part of the massive Together for Communities
employee volunteer initiative sponsored by Dufferin Aggregates' parent
company, Holcim (Canada) Inc., to mark the centenary of its parent company,
Swiss multi-national Holcim Ltd. The initiative aims to mobilize Holcim
employees to each dedicate one day of volunteering to the communities where it
operates. If all 80,000 Holcim employees from around the world contribute, the
company would be giving back almost 100 years of volunteer service to its
local communities. Through initiatives like the tree planting on the Bruce
Trail, Dufferin Aggregates and its Acton Quarry continue to demonstrate their
commitment to neighbours, to being responsible corporate citizens and stewards
of the natural environment.
