Renesas Electronics America and Altia Extend their Embedded Collaboration
with Advanced Graphic Solutions
Altia to Demonstrate High and Low-End TFT Graphic Solutions on Renesas
Microcontrollers at DevCon 2012
Renesas DevCon 2012
SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- October 18, 2012
Renesas Electronics America Inc.and Altia, Inc today announced that Altia has
expanded its support to embedded designers working with Renesas SH7269 and
V850/Dx4 microcontrollers (MCUs) for human machine interface (HMI) solutions.
The collaboration will provide an enriched user experience for medical,
automotive and other applications where connectivity and advanced user
interface technologies are bringing forth a new generation of “smart” devices.
By using Altia’s Design 10.2 graphics development tool, engineers can now
rapidly build and deploy their complex graphical user interfaces (GUIs) into
their end products.
“Combining our high-performance SH7269 and V850/Dx4 MCUs and Altia’s unique
GUI software technology offers customers the right fit of hardware and
development tools they need to bring their HMI solutions to market quickly and
cost effectively,” said Ritesh Tyagi, senior director, Microcontroller
Products & Solutions Marketing, Renesas Electronics America. “Altia’s HMI
expertise is a natural fit for Renesas’ solutions, and we are pleased to bring
Altia’s innovative user interface tools to Renesas customers working with TFT
graphics solutions geared for use in a range of applications.”
Jason Williamson, director of marketing, Altia, Inc. said, “Custom HMI
solutions that are ready to go in tandem with the hardware solutions help
companies to streamline the development process and innovate more rapidly,
bringing differentiated products to market more quickly. We are working
closely with Renesas to provide a single tool chain that enables quick and
easy HMI development on Renesas hardware, ranging from low- to high-end MCUs.”
Altia Design support offers WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) from the PC
to the target, along with image and font resource management, a small embedded
footprint and the capability to fully exploit graphics acceleration on Renesas
Renesas Electronics America and Altia will highlight some of the technologies
that are enabling a Smart Society at the Renesas Electronics DevCon 2012 being
held in Orange County, Calif., October 22-25. Altia President Peter Abowd will
present the session, “Improve a Product's User Experience with Model-Based UI
Design”, examining how a model-based tool helps to balance features and design
with hardware capability. On the exhibit floor, Altia will demonstrate the
different types of user interfaces that can be achieved with the Renesas
SH7269, illustrating the complexity, input mechanisms and performance expected
from this device. For the latest Renesas DevCon details and activities, visit
