BOSTON -- October 18, 2012

State Street Corporation (NYSE: STT) today announced the election of Thomas J.
Wilson, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Allstate
Corporation, to its board of directors. The addition of Mr. Wilson brings the
company’s total number of directors to 13.

Mr. Wilson, age 55, joined Allstate in 1995 and served in various roles prior
to becoming president and chief executive officer in 2007. Prior to Allstate,
Mr. Wilson held senior positions at Sears, Roebuck & Company and Dean Witter
Reynolds, Inc. with responsibility for strategy as well as mergers and
acquisitions. He is chairman of the Property and Casualty CEO Roundtable and
chairman of the Financial Services Roundtable. He is a board member of Rush
University Medical Center, Chicago’s Museum of Science & Industry, the US
Chamber of Commerce, World Business Chicago, the Economic Club of Chicago, and
Catalyst, Inc., a leading non-profit organization working to advance women in
