Everyone Can Make A Difference. TORONTO, Oct. 9, 2012 /CNW/ - Genworth Canada is calling upon young students to help make the dream of homeownership possible for more Canadian families in need. On October 10, Genworth Canada launches its sixth annual Meaning of Home Contest in support of Habitat for Humanity Canada. The contest invites grade 4, 5 and 6 students across Canada to submit a written essay about the meaning of home for a chance to direct $60,000 to a Habitat for Humanity build of their choice in Canada and win a pizza party for their entire school! View the Meaning of Home video at www.youtube.com/meaningofhome to hear first-hand what this experience has meant for past participants, organizers and supporters. "All of us at Genworth Canada take great pride in our Meaning of Home contest," says Brian Hurley, chairman and CEO of Genworth Canada. "It's extremely gratifying to know we are not only helping inspire children to write but we are also teaching them that every little gesture can make a difference." There are many more great prizes to be won, and for the second year in a row, Genworth Canada is donating $5 to Habitat for each entry submitted. According to Habitat there are currently more than 1.5 million Canadian families without safe, decent and affordable housing. "Our collaboration with Genworth Canada has been instrumental in helping our affiliates throughout the country build more homes and help more families achieve their dream of homeownership," said Stewart Hardacre, president and CEO of Habitat for Humanity Canada. "So spread the word and help us beat last year's record of 3,200 entries!" For more information about the contest, visit www.meaningofhome.ca. The deadline for submissions is November 9 and the winner will be announced in January 2013.
