operational intelligence, today announced a partnership with Rock the
Vote to allow young voters who get a majority of their news via
social media to better follow and understand the online conversation
around the U.S. presidential election. Rock the Vote and Splunk's
corporate social responsibility initiative, Splunk4Good, worked
together to build a visualization, which will display a unique set of
real-time political data about President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney
from today through Election Day, November 6, 2012. The visualization
built on Splunk software is on the Rock the Vote home page. 
A key component of Rock the Vote's mission is ensuring that the
concerns and issues important to young people are part of the
national political conversation. Having a real-time window into those
concerns will help ensure that the presidential candidates hear about
the issues that matter most to young voters.

To create the visualization, Splunk software is analyzing tweets that
have hashtags related to the election. The data is then provided in a
constantly changing election hashcloud that shows the top terms
linked to the candidates. Rock the Vote anticipates that this unique
tool will be useful to individual voters, organizations and media
seeking insight into the national political conversation.
