  Allianz Life Promotes Bill Ryan to Director of Human Resources

MINNEAPOLIS -- September 20, 2012

Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (Allianz Life^®) named Bill
Ryan as a director of Human Resources (HR). In this role, Ryan will lead the
people strategy and work with senior leaders in Actuarial, Finance, and Legal.
He is responsible for providing organizational design consultation and for
driving the effectiveness of performance management. He will lead succession
planning and will also develop HR policies and workforce strategies. Ryan
reports to Suzanne Dowd Zeller, vice president and chief human resources
officer for Allianz Life.

Ryan joined Allianz Life in 2002 as a client services team manager in the
Operations division and transitioned to the HR division as a service center
manager in 2004 where he built the HR Service Center supporting the company’s
HR needs and modernized the HR service infrastructure. In 2007, Ryan was
promoted to HR manager where he served as chief of staff for the chief human
resources officer for Allianz Life and its sister company, Fireman’s Fund
Insurance Company. He managed national HR budgets along with reporting and
analytics for global, national and local Allianz leadership. Ryan took a role
as HR business partner manager in 2010 where he provided counsel and support
for all sales departments and was accountable for alignment of HR and business
strategies. Before joining Allianz Life, Ryan worked for five years with
Prudential Financial, Inc. where he held roles in the Operations division as
an associate manager, a customer service coordinator and a customer service
representative.

Ryan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and communications from the
University of Minnesota in Duluth, Minn. He also earned a Master of Business
Administration degree from Cardinal Stritch University in Edina, Minn.
