Space Systems/Loral Fuels Advanced Satellite Development with

PTC(R) Pro/ENGINEER(R) and Windchill(R); Newest Product Release Strengthens
Competitive Advantage for Leading Aerospace and Defense Company
NEEDHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 17, 2006
PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC), the Product Development Company(TM),
today announced that Space Systems/Loral (SS/L), a premier designer,
manufacturer, and integrator of powerful satellites and satellite
systems, is upgrading to Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire(TM) 3.0, the newest
release of PTC's MCAD/CAM/CAE software, for product design and
development. SS/L has also chosen Windchill PDMlink(TM), the PTC
solution for product development data and process management to
support its strict quality standards. The combined solution delivers a
powerful and scaleable product development system that provides the
capabilities needed to meet the challenges of today's increasingly
complex product development environment.
A long time Pro/ENGINEER user, SS/L has chosen to upgrade to
Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0, to leverage the solution's
industry-specific capabilities including waveguide routing, top-down
design, integrated design and analysis, thermal modeler, and complex
wire harness design. Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire 3.0 additionally contains a
host of enhancements that will help SS/L increase the productivity of
its engineers and the efficiency of its product development processes.
Building upon the foundation of Pro/ENGINEER for product design,
the adoption of Windchill PDMLink will enable SS/L to improve the
effectiveness of its product development processes. As a result, the
company expects to accelerate time-to-market for its satellite
platforms while reducing costs for product development and promoting
technological innovation.
"Wildfire and PDMLink promote greater collaboration among our
project teams, customers, suppliers, and partners," said Jake Foraker,
vice president and chief information officer, Space Systems/Loral.
"SS/L views PTC as a strategic partner with the technology and
expertise to augment our satellite development process."
"PTC's success in the satellite industry reflects our commitment
to working with our satellite customers like Space Systems/Loral to
understand and meet their unique requirements," said Berry Gibson,
director, aerospace and defense product & market strategy, PTC. "As a
result, our solutions contain capabilities specifically designed to
help satellite manufactures increase efficiency and maximize
productivity in their product development."
