Buckeye Enters into Agreement with Nippon Paper

MEMPHIS, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 30, 2003--Buckeye
Technologies Inc. (NYSE:BKI) today announced that it has entered into
an exclusive agreement with Nippon Paper Chemicals Company, Ltd.,
Tokyo, Japan to market Nippon's specialty sulphite pulps in fifty
countries throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa, the
Middle East, and much of Asia. 
This business alliance with Nippon Paper Chemicals Co., Ltd. will
enable Buckeye to offer its customers a broader range of specialty
products. Buckeye will be the only company in the world marketing the
full range of specialty pulps - kraft and sulphite wood pulps as well
as cotton linter pulp.
