Electronics Corporation's Medical CD Recording Station For
Medical Imaging Market
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 15, 2002--Rimage Corporation
(Nasdaq:RIMG) today announced that it has entered a strategic
partnership with TDK Electronics Corporation, through which TDK will
integrate Rimage CD/DVD publishing systems into its Medical CD
Recording Station for the global medical imaging market.
TDK will integrate Rimage CD/DVD publishing systems into the CT,
MRI and other radiology equipment from several leading manufacturers,
including GE Medical, which has established the leading position in
the medical imaging market.
Initial shipments of these integrated imaging systems are
anticipated in Rimage's third quarter ending September 30.
Bernard P. Aldrich, president and chief executive officer,
commented: "We are pleased to be working with a company of TDK's
global stature. This partnership represents a significant new
opportunity for Rimage, because it is estimated that approximately
4,000 stand-alone imaging centers and another 4,000 hospitals have
imaging capabilities. Due to the diagnostic benefits of imaging, this
market is expected to continue growing significantly over the next few
years. Rimage is now positioned to participate in this growth through
our TDK partnership."
Imaging equipment integrated with Rimage CD/DVD publishing systems
will enable hospitals and clinics to:
-- Replace conventional film-based patient files with a CD,
resulting in significant cost savings for the institution.
-- Share information easily with physicians and patients, since
CDs can be viewed on any standard personal computer.
-- Increase storage and distribution efficiencies, because the
Rimage publishing systems function like a network printer.
