Credence Wins Quartet Order from LG Electronics for

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 2000--Credence Systems 
Corporation (Nasdaq:CMOS), a leading manufacturer of automatic test 
equipment (ATE) for the worldwide semiconductor industry, today 
announced that Korea's LG Electronics has purchased the Quartet 
One(TM) consumer mixed-signal tester. LG Electronics, which 
specializes in the development of digital consumer products, will use 
the Quartet One for testing CMS devices for its digital TV and display 
products. LG Electronics will leverage Credence's network of 
Quartet-based foundries and test outsource companies once the devices 
ramp up to volume production.

The Quartet One has been installed in LG Electronics' Corporate 
Institute of Technology, Seoul, Korea.
