TOLEDO, Ohio, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Pilkington Libbey-Owens-Ford's
Lathrop, Calif., facility has earned three awards from its customers: a
certificate of achievement in delivery performance from New United Motor
Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI); a delivery performance award from Toyota Motor
Manufacturing North America (TMMNA); and a value improvement award from TMMNA. 
Lathrop's delivery performance to NUMMI was outstanding in 1998,
delivering 100 percent of its shipments on schedule.  The Lathrop facility
supplies NUMMI with all automotive glass for the Geo Prism and Toyota Camry. 
Pilkington LOF earned both TMMNA awards for its work supplying glass for
the Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck.  It is the second consecutive year Pilkington
LOF has received the award for its work with the Toyota Tacoma. 
"We're very proud to have been honored by NUMMI and Toyota with these
awards," said Jim Meglan, Lathrop's OE manufacturing manager.  "As a team
committed to quality, we were able to meet or exceed NUMMI's targets for
excellence.  We're striving to achieve these awards again for 1999." 
The NUMMI delivery performance award was presented March 11 at the NUMMI
Supplier Conference.  The TMMNA delivery performance and value improvement
awards were presented March 18 at the Toyota Supplier Conference.  Both
automakers award suppliers for outstanding achievement in the areas of overall
quality, delivery performance and value improvement or cost reduction. 
The Lathrop facility currently employs 368 float manufacturing and
original equipment workers and has an annual production capacity of more than
360,000 automotive glass sets. 
NUMMI was established in 1984 as a joint venture between Toyota and
General Motors.  NUMMI manufactures the Toyota Corolla sedan, Toyota Tacoma
pick-up and Chevrolet Prizm, and is the only vehicle manufacturing plant in
Pilkington Libbey-Owens-Ford is part of the worldwide Pilkington Group.
