NEC to Mass Produce Lithium-Ion Batteries, Nikkan Kogyo Says

March 30 (Bloomberg) -- NEC Corp. will spend more than 50 billion yen ($540 million) within the next 12 months to mass produce lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles, the Nikkan Kogyo newspaper reported, citing an interview with Nobuhiro Endo, who will become president next month.

NEC will supply the batteries to Nissan Motor Co., the newspaper said.
