Chopin's French Piano Maker in Battle for Survival: Slideshow
Oct. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Pianos Pleyel, France's last piano maker, is cutting annual production and opening a new showroom in Paris as it struggles to overcome three decades of losses and tackle competition from China and U.S.-based Steinway Musical Instruments Inc. Pleyel Chairman Arnaud Marion speaks about the qualities that hooked Polish composer Chopin, who performed on a Pleyel for the first time in Paris in 1832.
