Japan Seeks to Submit Postal Privatization Plan This Month
By Keiichi Yamamura and Tak Kumakura
March 7 (Bloomberg) -- The Japanese government aims to submit a plan to privatize the country's postal agency by the end of this month, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroyuki Hosoda said.
Speaking at a regular news conference in Tokyo, Hosoda, the chief government spokesman, said the proposal will be sent to parliament as soon as the Cabinet and the ruling party reach an agreement on the plan.
The Cabinet of Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi and his own Liberal Democratic Party have compiled differing postal reform proposals. The two sides are in discussions to come up with a single plan.
