June 26 (Bloomberg) -- Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi will meet her North Korean counterpart Paek Nam-Sun in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta on July 1, the first foreign minister-level meeting in two years, the Yomiuri newspaper said.
Kawaguchi will probably receive an answer concerning the possibility of a reunion in Indonesia between Hitomi Suga, a repatriated North Korean abductee, and her family in North Korea, the Yomiuri said citing government sources. Soga is married to Charles Robert Jenkins, a former U.S. soldier.
Jenkins and his two daughters have refused to leave North for Japan on concern the U.S., which has listed him as a deserter since 1965, may seek his arrest in Japan.
North Korea is showing signs of accepting the reunification of the family and is seeking confirmation from Jenkins, the paper said.
