Oct. 26 (Bloomberg) -- The following stocks may rise or fall in U.K. and Irish markets today. Stock symbols are in parentheses and prices are from the Oct. 21 close.
The FTSE 100 Index fell 25.5, or 0.5 percent, to 5182.1. The FTSE All-Share Index lost 11.43, or 0.4 percent, to 2598.66.
Ireland's ISEQ Overall Index rose 54.27, or 0.8 percent, to 6533.02.
U.K. Companies:
Egg Plc (EGG LN): The U.K.'s biggest Internet bank reports third quarter earnings. Prudential Plc Chief Executive Officer Mark Tucker may be considering buying the 21 percent of Egg Plc that his company doesn't already own, the Financial Times reported on Oct. 22, without citing sources. The shares gained 0.25 pence, or 0.3 percent, to 100.25.
European Motor Holdings (EMH LN): The U.K. luxury-car dealership group reports first half earnings. In June, the company agreed to buy Smith Knight Fay Holdings Ltd. for 29.8 million pounds ($54 million), to expand its showrooms in northwest England. The shares added 0.75 pence, or 0.3 percent, to 251.5.
London Stock Exchange Plc (LSE LN): Euronext NV may drop its plans to buy London Stock Exchange Plc because of shareholder skepticism and regulatory issues, Reuters said, citing unidentified people close to the situation. The shares were unchanged at 562 pence.
RHM Plc (RHM LN): The U.K. maker of Hovis bread and Mr Kipling's cakes may release a trading statement. The company raised 475 million pounds ($847.6 million) selling shares in an intial public offering on July 19. The shares dropped 4.25 pence, or 1.4 percent, to 291.25. --Editor:
Wyevale Garden Centres Plc (WGC LN): The U.K.'s largest plant retailer has ended buyout talks with Gnome Acquisitions Ltd., a takeover company formed by Cinven Ltd., after the private equity group said it would not meet the offer price. The shares added 2 pence, or 0.4 percent, to 545.
