April 3 (Bloomberg) -- The U.K. government will spend 5 million pounds ($9 million) to 10 million pounds to distribute to all households a booklet with instructions on how to react to a terrorist attack, the Financial Times said, citing unidentified police and government officials.
The decision comes after police and businesses urged the government to provide more information about the risks of an attack, the Financial Times said. The paper attributed the estimate of the cost to the police officials.
The booklet, which will discuss procedures for handling emergencies such as floods or chemical attacks, is being prepared and the campaign for it will start in the coming weeks, the Financial Times said.
The general information contained in the booklet responds to police concerns that more public statements on how to prepare for an attack are needed in order to assess current arrangements, the FT reported.
