Blumenthal Urges Bernanke to Stop $230 Million in AIG Bonuses
March 27 (Bloomberg) -- American International Group Inc. should be stopped by the federal government from paying another $230 million in bonuses, said Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal.
In a letter today to Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke, Blumenthal urged “immediate federal action” to block the bonuses, according to a statement from the Connecticut attorney general’s office. The office said an AIG document indicates the $230 million is set to be paid to 407 people in March 2010.
