Nov. 3 (Bloomberg) -- YouTube executive Jordan Hoffner, who helped forge deals with Time Warner Inc. and Walt Disney Co. as director of content partnerships, is leaving the company.
Hoffner will be replaced by Chris Maxcy, who has worked on agreements with record labels, said Aaron Zamost, a spokesman for YouTube, a division of Google Inc.
“Jordan was a valued member of the YouTube team and we wish him well in his new endeavors,” Zamost said. “We have a talented group leading our partnership efforts.”
YouTube, the world’s most popular video-sharing site, is adding programming from media companies to bolster revenue from advertising. Google Chief Financial Officer Patrick Pichette said last month that the unit is “on its path to profitability in the not-too-distant future.”
YouTube has also struck video deals in the past few years with Lions Gate Entertainment Corp., owner of the biggest independent U.S. film studio, and Discovery Communications Inc., owner of the Discovery cable network. The partnership with Time Warner lets YouTube show clips from CNN and Cartoon Network. YouTube also shows clips of Disney’s ABC programming.
Hoffner, who joined in 2006, is taking a job at IAC/InterActiveCorp’s Electus entertainment site, said Leslie Cafferty, a spokeswoman for IAC.
Google rose $3.30 to $537.29 at 4 p.m. New York time on the Nasdaq Stock Market. The stock has climbed 75 percent this year.
