Ruble Climbs to 1-Week High Versus Dollar, Gains Against Euro

May 19 (Bloomberg) -- Russia’s ruble jumped to its strongest level in almost a week against the dollar and strengthened versus the euro.
The currency climbed as much as 0.3 percent to 31.9583 per dollar, the strongest since May 13. It added the same amount to 43.3056 per euro by 10:18 a.m. in Moscow, from 43.4174 late yesterday.
The ruble gained for a third day against its target dollar- euro basket, strengthening 0.3 percent to 37.0682. The basket is made up of about 55 percent dollars and the rest euros and the rate remains above the 41 level the central bank pledged to defend at the end of January.
