May 14 (Bloomberg)--Asian Development Bank President Tadao Chino, 70, may quit in November and be replaced by Haruhiko Kuroda, economic adviser to Japan's Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi, the Emerging Markets newspaper reported, citing senior officials it did not name.
Chino's term, which began in January 1999, formally runs until September 2006, according to the report. November has typically been when ADB presidents resign, with all but one head choosing the month to step down, the paper said.
Kuroda, 59, is a former vice minister for international affairs at the Ministry of Finance. He is set to speak later today at a seminar as part of the ADB's annual meeting taking place this year on Jeju Island, South Korea, the paper reported.
Other prospective candidates include Kosuke Nakahira the newspaper said. Nakahira was vice finance minister for international affairs from 1993 and 1995.
The ADB's annual gathering runs from May 15 to May 17. The bank has customarily been headed by a Japanese national.
