Harmony Shuts Projects in Papua New Guinea, Post-Courier Says
May 5 (Bloomberg) -- Harmony Gold Mining Co. shut its Hidden Valley and Wafi gold projects in Papua New Guinea because of conflict with local landowners in the Morobe province, the Post- Courier reported, without saying where it got the information.
Papua New Guinea police have been called in to the mines to protect workers and equipment following disputes with landowners, the report said.
The company couldn't say whether the closure would delay first output from the Hidden Valley mine, which is expected by the end of this month, the newspaper said.
