May 19 (Bloomberg) -- Microsoft Corp. Chief Executive Officer Steve Ballmer was pelted with eggs during a visit to a Hungarian university, local news Web site Index reported today.

An unknown person threw several eggs at Ballmer after he received an honorary doctorate from Corvinus University in Budapest, according to the Web site. The person who threw the eggs yelled that Ballmer should pay back taxpayer money, Index said.

Ballmer hid behind a pulpit until security officers escorted the egg-thrower out of the auditorium, allowing the CEO to start his presentation, the Web site reported.
