German Energy Agency Opposes Extending Reactors, Rundschau Says

By Nicholas Comfort

Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- The German Energy Agency wants Germany to stick to a law that will phase out nuclear power because extending the lives of reactors may hamper competition and investment, Frankfurter Rundschau reported.

The resulting delayed spending on new fossil-fuel-fired electricity plants could lead to a shortfall in generation capacity in the “mid term” and drive up power prices, the newspaper said, citing Stephan Kohler, who heads the agency.
