Nov. 5 (Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies whose shares may have unusual price changes in South Africa. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names and prices are from the last close.
South Africa’s FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index rose for the first time in four days, adding 168.90, or 0.7 percent, to 25,924.50 in Johannesburg.
Afrimat Ltd. (AFT SJ): The building-materials company said profit rose to 41.9 million rand ($5.5 million) in the six months through August, from 34.4 million rand a year earlier. The stock was unchanged at 3.30 rand.
BHP Billiton Ltd. (BIL SJ): The world’s largest mining company suspended a contractor from working on the rail component of its $4.8 billion iron ore expansion project in Western Australia because of safety concerns. The stock gained 1.74 rand, or 0.8 percent, to 213 rand.
Foschini Ltd. (FOS SJ): South Africa’s third-largest clothes retailer reports first-half earnings. Foschini dropped 20 cents, or 0.3 percent, to 58.69 rand.
Nedbank Group Ltd. (NED SJ): South Africa’s fourth-largest lender reports third-quarter earnings. Nedbank climbed 1.05 rand, or 0.9 percent, to 113.55 rand.
Northam Platinum Ltd. (NHM SJ): The operator of the world’s deepest mine for the metal hosts its annual general meeting of shareholders. The stock was unchanged at 37 rand.
Old Mutual Plc (OML SJ): The biggest insurer in Africa reports third-quarter earnings. Old Mutual gained 18 cents, or 1.3 percent, to 13.68 rand.
Vodacom Group Ltd. (VOD SJ): The largest provider of wireless services to South Africans was rated “buy” in new coverage at Citigroup Inc., which said the company “stands out” as a defensive, well-managed business that has historically dominated the market. The stock was almost unchanged at 51.56 rand.
Shares or American depositary receipts of the following South African companies closed as follows:
Anglo American Plc (AAUKY US) rose 1.6 percent to $19. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU US) dropped 3.2 percent to $40.23. BHP Billiton Ltd. (BBL US) added 1.1 percent to $55.75. DRDGold Ltd. (DROOY US) fell 1.7 percent to $6.22. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI US) declined 2.1 percent to $13.71. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (HMY US) added 1.4 percent to $10.51. Impala Platinum Holdings Co. (IMPUY US) gained 3.9 percent to $22.60. Sappi Ltd. (SPP US) gained 1.4 percent to $3.66. Sasol Ltd. (SSL US) rose 1.8 percent to $38.17. Telkom South Africa Ltd. (TLKGY US) added 2.5 percent to $21.80.
