Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- The following is a list of companies whose shares may have unusual price changes in South Africa. Stock symbols are in parentheses after company names and prices are from the last close.
South Africa’s FTSE/JSE Africa All Share Index slid 26.70, or 0.1 percent, to 25,897.8. The measure has lost 1.8 percent so far this week, heading for a second weekly decline.
BHP Billiton Ltd. (BIL SJ): The world’s biggest mining company said repair work to damaged equipment at its Olympic Dam mine in South Australia state is “well advanced” and reaffirmed that the mine will return to full production no later than the third quarter. BHP shares fell 11 cents, or 0.1 percent, to 212.89 rand.
Country Bird Holdings Ltd. (CBH SJ): JPMorgan Chase & Co. raised its recommendation on the shares to “overweight” from “neutral.” The shares were unchanged at 3.30 rand.
Hosken Consolidated Investments Ltd. (HCI SJ): The investment company with gaming interests may report first-half earnings today. HCI, as the company is known, this week said earnings per share excluding items in the six months to end- September are expected to be between 1 rand and 1.10 rand, and that earnings would be published on or about Nov. 6. HCI dropped 1.50 rand, or 2.1 percent, to 68.90 rand.
Invicta Holdings Ltd. (IVT SJ): The seller of ball bearings and engineering equipment reports first-half earnings. Invicta was unchanged at 23 rand.
Old Mutual Plc (OML SJ): Chief Executive Officer Julian Roberts won’t disclose the company’s restructuring plans until next March, the Financial Times reported, citing Roberts. Old Mutual shares fell 7 cents, or 0.5 percent, to 13.61 rand.
SABMiller Plc (SAB SJ): The world’s second-largest brewer may target Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling Co. and other emerging- market soft-drink bottlers if it successfully acquires Mexico’s Femsa Cerveza, according to analysts at Evolution Securities. SABMiller shares rose 1.36 rand, or 0.7 percent, to 205.51 rand.
Seardel Investment Corp. (SER SJ): South Africa’s biggest clothing and textile-maker’s loss in the six months through September was 221.5 million rand ($29.1 million). The stock was unchanged at 45 cents.
Shares or American depositary receipts of the following South African companies closed as follows:
Anglo American Plc (AAUKY US) rose 2.9 percent to $19.55. AngloGold Ashanti Ltd. (AU US) fell 0.6 percent to $40. BHP Billiton Ltd. (BBL US) added 1.5 percent to $56.60. DRDGold Ltd. (DROOY US) gained 0.2 percent to $6.23. Gold Fields Ltd. (GFI US) slid 0.1 percent to $13.70. Harmony Gold Mining Co. (HMY US) declined 0.1 percent to $10.50. Impala Platinum Holdings Co. (IMPUY US) fell 0.8 percent to $22.41. Sappi Ltd. (SPP US) climbed 3 percent to $3.77. Sasol Ltd. (SSL US) increased 1.6 percent to $38.79. Telkom South Africa Ltd. (TLKGY US) rose 0.7 percent to $21.95.
