U.S. Stocks Fluctuate as GE Rallies, Jobless Rate Jumps to 10.2%

Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- U.S. stocks swung between gains and losses as General Electric Co. rose and Macy’s Inc. led an advance by retailers, overshadowing the highest American unemployment rate since 1983.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index fell 0.1 percent to 1,065.57 at 11:12 a.m. in New York after adding 0.5 percent and dropping as much as 0.7 percent.
