General Motors Says It’s Not in Talks on a Chrysler Merger
By Jeff Green
Dec. 18 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp. hasn’t resumed merger talks with Chrysler LLC while seeking U.S. loans to avoid running out of money at month’s end, a spokesman said. The Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that talks were under way.
“I can say unequivocally we are not in any merger talks with Chrysler,” spokesman Tony Cervone said today. “Our position on that has not changed.” GM said Nov. 7 that it was ending talks about a strategic acquisition while it focused on getting government loans to survive.
