Tom Glavine Agrees to One-Year Deal With Braves, MLB.com Says

By Erik Matuszewski

Nov. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Tom Glavine agreed to a one-year, $8 million contract with the Atlanta Braves, MLB.com said, citing the agent for the two-time Cy Young Award winner.

Glavine pitched for the Braves from 1987-2002 and maintained his family's residence in Atlanta while pitching for the New York Mets the past five Major League Baseball seasons. He decided last month not to extend his contract with the Mets.

Glavine, a 41-year-old left-hander, had a 13-8 record with a 4.45 earned run average in 34 starts for the Mets during the 2007 season. He picked up his 300th career victory on Aug. 5, becoming the 23rd major-league pitcher to reach the milestone.

A 10-time All-Star, Glavine joins a Braves team that went 84-78 last season and finished in third place in the National League East Division, five games behind Philadelphia and four games behind the Mets.
