Nov. 10 (Bloomberg) -- Retired National Football League players were awarded $7.1 million by a San Francisco jury that found the players union owed them royalties from licensing agreements with companies such as video-game maker Electronic Arts Inc.
A lawsuit filed on behalf of as many as 2,062 former NFL players claimed the National Football League Players Association and its Players Inc. licensing unit failed to pay millions of dollars in royalties owed under licenses with makers of video games, trading cards and other football products.
The case is Herbert Adderley v. National Football League Players Association, 07-943, U.S. District Court, San Francisco.
