Sept. 26 (Bloomberg) -- E.ON AG said that Electricite de France SA's takeover of British Energy Group Plc may slow down other companies' U.K. nuclear development plans, the London-based Times reported, citing an unidentified E.ON spokesman.

The German power company said that a clause in the takeover deal could block the development of new plants needed for the stability of the U.K.'s energy infrastructure, the Times said.

The clause, which allows EDF to block the sale of certain sites for new nuclear plants until 2011, may also face opposition from Npower owner RWE AG and Sweden's Vattenfall AB, the newspaper said.
