Sept. 2 (Bloomberg) -- General Electric Co. doesn't intend to sell its majority stake in NBC Universal, according to NBC Universal's second-biggest shareholder Vivendi SA, the Financial Times reported.
Jean-Bernard Levy, chief executive officer of Vivendi, told the FT that he has heard GE CEO Jeffrey Immelt ``several times,'' in private and public, say he has no plans to sell NBC Universal. Levy doesn't think there has been any change there, the FT cited the Vivendi chief as saying.
GE, which owns 80 percent of NBC Universal, had previously signaled it may review its ownership after the Beijing Olympics, the newspaper said. The ratings and commercial success of the Olympics ``could give a new impulse'' to the NBC channel, Levy said, according to the FT.
Vivendi will review its 20 percent stake in NBC Universal later this year, Levy told the newspaper.
