Kirin Recalls Volvic Water After Consumers Complain of Odor
By Taku Kato and Tetsuki Murotani
Oct. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Kirin Holdings Co., Japan's largest beverage maker, voluntarily recalled 570,000 bottles of mineral water after some consumers complained the product had a bad odor.
The recall applies to 500-milliliter bottles of French mineral water sold in Japan under the Volvic brand, according to a faxed statement from Kirin Beverage Corp., a unit of the Tokyo- based company.
The odor, which may come from paint in containers used to ship the bottles, isn't harmful to people's health, Kirin said.
