Merkel Riles FDP With Tax Cut Delay, Handelsblatt Reports
By Jeremy van Loon
Nov. 8 (Bloomberg) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel riled her coalition partners with plans to further delay a decision on tax cuts demanded by the Free Democratic Party, Handelsblatt reported.
Merkel wants to defer a decision on the matter until next year after a government commission that will look at tax cuts is established, the newspaper said. Andreas Pinkwart, the FDP vice chairman, told Handelsblatt the Chancellor is looking for ways to get out of an agreement with the FDP to cut 24 billion euros ($35.8 billion) annually in taxes.
