Nokia May Make Romanian Factory World's Biggest, Financiar Says
By Adam Brown
Jan. 21 (Bloomberg) -- Nokia Oyj, the world's biggest maker of mobile phones, intends to make a planned northern Romanian factory its largest by the end of 2009, Ziarul Financiar said.
The factory, to open on Feb. 11 near the Romanian city of Cluj, is hiring about 100 people a week and intends to employ 3,500 people, the newspaper said, without saying where it got the information.
Growth of the factory partly depends on the government's intentions to improve local roads and infrastructure and expand the nearest airport, the newspaper said.
