Germany Mulls Car-Tax Changes to Lift Sales, Handelsblatt Says
By Chris Reiter
Aug. 24 (Bloomberg) -- Germany is considering changing tax law to boost car sales after the end of an incentive program to scrap old autos, Handelsblatt reported, citing Guenther Oettinger, premier of the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg.
The change would make it easier for German auto workers to sell cars purchased with employee discounts, the newspaper said.
Under existing rules, the discounts are subject to taxation, making sales unattractive, Handelsblatt said.
