Sept. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Munich Re Chief Executive Officer Nikolaus von Bomhard said he is interested in acquiring parts of New York-based American International Group Inc., Handelsblatt reported.
Munich Re may want to buy AIG's primary-insurance operations in eastern Europe and its industrial insurance business, von Bomhard told the newspaper.
There are no talks with AIG, and purchases would have to be at the right price and fit strategically, the newspaper cited the CEO as saying in a summary of an article to be published tomorrow. Munich Re is not interested in AIG's stake in reinsurer Transatlantic Re, von Bomhard told the newspaper.
