Oct. 28 (Bloomberg) --Selfridges is to add almost a month to the life of the temporary restaurant on the roof where chef Pierre Koffmann has come out of retirement to cook.
The venue, which was scheduled to close on Oct. 31, will now continue in business until Nov. 27, the department store on London’s Oxford Street said today. The eatery was originally planned for just a few days and this is the third extension.
“The stampede for tables at the pop-up has been phenomenal,” the store said in an e-mailed statement. “So far, Selfridges has received almost 10,000 calls and 8,000 e-mails requesting reservations. Demand for tables continues to grow and over 70 percent of customers who attended in the first 15 days of the pop-up requested a second booking, which at the time Selfridges could not fulfill.”
French-born Koffmann earned three Michelin stars at his London restaurant La Tante Claire, which he closed seven years ago after the death of his wife.
