Nov. 20 (Bloomberg) -- European Commission President Jose Barroso comments on the economic-recovery package the European Union executive plans to announce Nov. 26.
He spoke to reporters in Brussels today, a day after German government officials said the EU is working on a 130 billion- euro ($164 billion) package to bolster the region's economy.
``No political decisions have been taken.''
``I cannot at this moment confirm or deny any of the figures that I have seen.''
``Everyone is suffering from the crisis and everyone needs treatment. But not everyone needs the same pill. A one-size- fits-all approach would not help.''
On Nov. 26, the commission will propose a fiscal stimulus plan ``based on member states taking measures suited to their own economic situation.''
``It would be a danger if we have national measures that would have an effect on neighbors. We need a coordinated approach.''
``What we need is a coordinated EU response big enough and bold enough to work in the short term yet strategic enough. We need to make sure that help comes to those most in need.''
``We are living in exceptional times and in exceptional times we need exceptional measures. It cannot be a one-size- fits-all response.''
``Our plan will be that timely, targeted and temporary.''
