Russia May Set Minimum Retail Price for Vodka, Vedomosti Says

By Denis Maternovsky

Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Russia’s government may set a minimum price for retail vodka sales to help curb alcoholism, Vedomosti reported, citing the market regulator.

The watchdog proposed imposing fines stores that sell vodka for less than 90 rubles ($3.10) per half-liter bottle, the newspaper said today. Under a draft decree, retailers could be fined as much as 100,000 rubles for violating the price limit, Vedomosti said.
