Aurobindo Pharma Gets Approval to Sell Generic Omnicef in U.S.

Dec. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Aurobindo Pharma Ltd., an Indian drugmaker, won regulatory approval to sell its copy of Abbott Laboratories's antibiotic Omnicef in the U.S.
The Hyderabad, India-based company received permission from the Food and Drug Administration to sell the oral suspension of cefdinir, or generic Omnicef, the regulator said on its Web site.
Omnicef, used to treat ear, sinus, throat and skin infections, generated $637 million in sales last year for Abbott Park, Illinois-based Abbott.
