Nov. 6 (Bloomberg) -- The Bank of New York Mellon China ADR Index, which tracks American depositary receipts, rose 0.3 percent to 382.02. The American Stock Exchange China Index increased 0.1 percent. The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.3 percent to 3,164.04.
The following companies were among the most active Chinese shares in New York trading. Stock symbols are in parentheses.
A-Power Energy Generation Systems Ltd. (APWR US) fell 2.3 percent to $10.60, its third day of declines. The Chinese wind turbine manufacturer’s $1.5 billion wind farm venture in Texas doesn’t “involve” U.S. stimulus funds, said Chief Operating Officer John Lin. Lin made the statement after U.S. Senator Charles Schumer said the Obama administration should bar the 600-megawatt wind farm from receiving U.S. government stimulus funds because most of the power turbines would be made in China.
Cnooc Ltd. (CEO US) climbed 1.1 percent to $158.32, the highest since Oct. 27. China’s largest offshore oil producer said exploration expenditure may rise to $298.7 million from $134.5 million, the Beijing-based company said in its social responsibility report on its Web site today.
Huaneng Power International Inc. (HNP US) advanced for a fifth day, rising 0.3 percent to $27.09. China, the world’s second-biggest energy user, may raise retail electricity prices by 5 percent this month to help power distributors cover losses, CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets said.
Jiangxi Copper Co. (JIXAY US) dropped 1.4 percent to $93.57, the most in a week. Shanghai copper stockpiles climbed for a second week to the highest in more than five years, the Shanghai Futures Exchange said in a report on its Web site.
Xinyuan Real Estate Co. Ltd. (XIN US) gained 7.3 percent to $4.84, the most since Sept. 4. E-House China Holdings Ltd. (EJ US), the Chinese provider of real estate services, added 7.3 percent to $19.66.
The governments of China’s Hunan and Jilin provinces plan to extend incentives for home purchases to next year, the 21 Century Business Herald said, without saying where it got the information.
