July 2 (Bloomberg) -- Walt Disney Co. may rehire the 30 engineers it laid off in March, to help the planned expansion of its Hong Kong theme park, the Hong Kong Economic Times reported, without citing anyone.
Disney has hinted to the engineers that they might be taken back and once the city’s Legislative Council approves the expansion plan on July 10 the company may proceed with the rehiring, the Hong Kong-based, Chinese-language newspaper said.
Disney will pay HK$3.5 billion ($452 million) to add rides like “Toy Story Land” and “Grizzly Trail” at the Hong Kong park, its partner, the city’s government, said on June 30.
