UBS to Sponsor Soccer Games on Stilts Inside Tate Modern in May

By Farah Nayeri

March 6 (Bloomberg) -- UBS AG, Europe's biggest bank by assets, will be sponsoring soccer games played on stilts and other sports events inside Tate Modern, the London museum, in a May arts festival, Tate said at a joint presentation with UBS.

Athletes and visitors will take part in obstacle races, slow- speed bicycle races and other sporting activities inside the museum's hangar-sized Turbine Hall. The event is inspired by Fluxus, a global network of artists who interacted in Europe, the U.S. and Japan in the 1960s and 1970s.

It's all part of a festival of art, dance, performance, installation and music held from May 23 to 26 at Tate Modern and backed by UBS to spotlight its support for Tate Modern's permanent collection.

Also scheduled is a May 24 evening presentation by photographer Nan Goldin of two of her slide shows documenting 1970s and 1980s New York.
